Manchester Immigration Barristers say Judges Rule Harshly on Immigration Matters
A recent radio broadcast on BBC Radio 4 featured a number of Immigration Barristers in Manchester discussing the judgements handed out by judges on immigration matters.
In a very open debate a high proportion of Manchester Immigration Barristers stated that UK immigration judges tend to rule ‘harshly’, and in some cases extremely harshly, when passing decisions on immigration cases.
In a statement from Emma Norton, an immigration lawyer with the human rights group Liberty, she said: “Judges who rule on immigration applications apply the law ‘often very harshly.’ These are the cases that Theresa May doesn't want the public to hear about.”
At the recent Tory Party conference in Manchester Home Secretary, Theresa May, accused immigration judges of ruling in favour of foreign criminals far too frequently.
Whilst a proportion of Immigration Barristers in Manchester agree with this stance, they argue that those immigrants in Britain legally are often treated much more severely than those individuals that ‘do not deserve to be in the country.’
With the introduction of a new UK Immigration Bill the rights of immigrants are becoming increasingly narrow and more restricted. Many Immigration Barristers in Manchester have warned that the Home Office and the Coalition Government are in danger of fragmenting British society even further with its treatment of immigrants.
The immediate danger is the fuelling of further racial discrimination and the division of communities, which community groups all over Britain have worked hard towards repairing.
